ECOLOGICAL MOVEMENT OF UZBEKISTAN SUMMED UP THE YEAR AND TRACED FURTHER PERSPECTIVES

Last year activity results and perspective plans were discussed in the joint meeting of the Executive Committee of the Central Kengash and Central Supervisory Revision Commission of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan.

The meeting was attended by members of the Executive Committee of the Central Kengash and Central Supervisory Revision Commission as well as representatives of regional departments of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan.

Participants considered a number of questions among with suggestions for the Year of Development and Improvement of Countryside State Program, organization of regional departments’ activity and ways of cooperation with state, international and public organizations in joint solving of environmental and population healthcare problems.

Aslon Mavlonov, chairman of the Executive Committee of the Central Kengash of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan noted that the Movement of Uzbekistan together with the State Nature Protection Committee of Uzbekistan, International non-governmental charitable fund Sog’lom avlod uchun and other bodies interested in nature protection and NGO/NPOs took an active part in the organization of environment protection events. Together with this, with the purpose of raising state authority bodies’ responsibility consulting meetings with Senate members and deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan’s Parliament, public organizations, civil society institutes and mass media were held. As of today, cooperation plans between legislative and executive power on discussion and preparation of corresponding draft laws have been developed.

Within first-priority tasks’ implementation Eco movement’s workers took part in more than 45 conferences, seminars, round tables and local citizens’ assemblies from August to November, 2008 where they considered questions of citizens’ involvement into the work on environment protection and healthcare of population.

Participants of the meeting noted that during the years of independence committed and systematic work on environment protection and healthcare has been carried out, tasks on environment sanitation and population’s health improvement are fulfilled in successive steps. Together with that, significance of legislative acts in this sphere immeasurably grows in modern conditions of global ecological problems’ aggravation.

At present, one of the tasks we face is the development of partner relations with ecological NGOs and civil society institutes as well as elaboration of complex plans and joint projects’ implementation,” Aslon Mavlonov noted in his interview with UT. “By attraction of community’s attention to the necessity of successive solving of problems connected with environment protection and population healthcare Eco movement is intending to coordinate and support innovative ideas, initiatives of ecological organizations as well as scientists, specialists and representatives of all population strata. All that is directed to the environmental sanitation and improvement of human health, preservation of the country’s natural wealth for future generations,” the head of the movement told.

Saidrasul Sanginov, deputy chairman of the Executive committee of the Central Kengash of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan noted in his conversation with a UT correspondent that announcing 2009 the Year of development and improvement of countryside requires strengthening of attention to rural areas: this is rational use of land and water resources, rising fertility of soils, improvement of peasant and farming household effectiveness. Ecological movement will play a leading role in achieving theses goals.

Among perspective plans of the Movement for 2009 year participants mentioned successive development and strengthening of relations with international ecological public organizations. Is this relation the Movement is ready for active participation in international projects on ecological initiatives’ support directed to the introduction of ecologically clean technologies, bio- and nanotechnologies and ecological innovations into production process.

AIDARALIEV BECAME MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE

By the decree of President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, Aidaraliev Iskenderbek Rysbekovich has been appointed the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, the presidential press service reports.
