THIRD AARHUS CENTER IN TAJIKISTAN OPENS IN KURGAN-TYUBE

The environmental information Aarhus Center opened the administrative center of the Khatlon oblast with the support of the OSCE.

The opening ceremony of the center took place in presence of the deputy chairman of Khatlon oblast Abdurohmon Kodiri and deputy of the OSCE mission in RT Claus Rasmusen, who in his speech noted that the Center was the third one in Tajikistan. First two centers are now successfully functioning in the cities of Dushanbe and Khudzand.

He stressed that the main goal of these centers is raising awareness of civil society and the government of the environmental situation in the regions. “Main purpose of this center is providing public access to environmental information, environmental justice and involvement of population and civil society in protection of environmental”, he added.
