Summary

Investigations, directed on salinity control and productivity, increase of hardly reclaimed gypsum bearing saline lands of south-east Golodnaya Steppe on basis of  leaching intensive technology on a background of deep loosing and horizontal drainage with set of agro-reclamation measures. Climate is sharply continental.

Soils vary from light sandy loam and loamy to hard loamy-clayey with high gypsum content and salinity.

Experimental production plot area is 160 ha.Irrigation source is Golodnostepsky canal. Main irrigation network is  chute.Drainage system is presented by subsurface drainage.

As a result of investigations, it is recommended to use leaching irrigation on short furrows (50-100 m) with row-spacing 45 cm by 3 - 4 gifts with depth 2 -3 th.m3/ha and perfect leaching technique. Advantage of recommended leaching method of strongly saline lands is 30 -40 % water saving; excavation volume reduction avoiding some technological operations and receiving additional production from leached area thanks to soil desalination uniformity.

Bibliography

1. Authors: G.G.ReshetovTitle: Soil leaching on furrowsScientifically and practically grounded leaching technology by irrigations on furrows is suggested providing desalination of strongly saline soils (alkali soils) by reduced norms (5 -10 th.m3/ha) that meets requirements of economical water consumption. The order of soil preparation for leaching, regime and technique of irrigation water supply,

methods of soil desalination effect strengthening and development are stated.
